For most of medical history we thought hydrogen was just another inert gas with no real medical applications. All of that changed in 2007, when a group of researchers published their findings in the medical journal Nature showing that hydrogen is actually a unique and highly-effective antioxidant in the human body.
Since then, there have been over 1000 peer-reviewed studies showing that molecular hydrogen has applications for over 170 different disease processes.
It has a lot to do with something called oxidative stress. In a nutshell, oxidative stress is a damaging process that occurs when the body has too many free radicals and not enough antioxidants to keep them in check.
Oxidative stress causes damage to the body’s cells, tissues, and proteins, which causes a wide range of illnesses. Molecular hydrogen (H2) is an antioxidant that reduces oxidative stress by uniquely targeting the most harmful free radicals. So it makes sense that the H2 supplement has applications in so many illnesses and conditions.
Molecular hydrogen is unique in that it’s the only selective antioxidant — it only targets the bad players. Since molecular hydrogen is so stable, it only reacts with the most reactive free radicals, and leaves the less reactive, beneficial free radicals alone.

How do we get hydrogen molecules into the body?
